No, it’s not that kind of model. The real-time API is a different class of models, one that ingests both real-time audio and text and is capable of outputting real-time audio and text. It’s a completely different architecture and everything.

Try using the mini model, it’s much cheaper.

  • But like all of these smaller models, you have to limit your queries and things to very targeted and easy to understand things.
    • that’s why it’s nice to be able to use the bigger model, it works in more general ways.

Everything is still in beta - like the API itself - so as things mature, the costs will go down.
